                                                            Figure-Ground Relationship

This image represents the figure-ground relationship because one's eye move's back and forth, switching the figure with the (back)ground. The fish images are the forefront in one focus, while the birds are the focus in another view.

Assymetrical Balance

This is assymetrical because the eye focuses towards the left half of the picture immediately. It's balanced very "left-heavy", as well as split basically right down the middle.

Cool Colors

This is a picture displaying the use of cool colors. There is very little, if any, use of any of the warm colors, and there is a very prominent use of blue, as well as other dark colors.

Warm Colors

This is a picture displaying the use of warm colors. There is an overall warm hue to the picture; it feels very warm, and not the slightest bit cold. The reds and browns are the big reason why this picture feels so warm.

Chiaroscuro

This is an example of chiaroscuro, or flat lighting, because there was one light source coming from the side, giving some depth to the photo. Also, the shading that the light gives on the players and instruments is a giveaway that  this is chiaroscuro lighting.

Atmospheric Perspective

The closer to the camera one is, the more definition there is; the further away, definition decreases, as well as the color and saturation decreases. All color eventually blends in with the color of the sky/atmosphere.

Apparent Movement

This image appears to be moving, while in fact it's just a picture or a static drawing. This is what apparent movement is all about; having the appearance of moving, while actually remaining still.

Gestalt - Closure

This is a perfect example of closure. The figure isn't actually completely traced around or "lined in", however, one's mind sees enough of the overall image to complete it in their mind.

Symbolic Sign

Here is a symbolic sign. Without words, most everyone knows what this sign means. The cigarette resembles smoking, while the circle with the line through it usually means not to do something, or to stop. One's mind pieces these together, and through symbols, tell's the reader the message that the author wanted to get through.

Displaced Code

This is an example of displaced code; all three of the items pictured together are relatable in the way that they go hand in hand with each other. The viewer sees these items and makes assumptions, combining these three into one flowing picture.
